Splat

Some life drawings from the last couple of weeks. I have been experimenting a bit with paint spatter as well as pastels on brown paper with some of the results you can see here. Some happy accidents, but this is only thin paper and I think I grossly overestimated its various capacities ;P

About 15-20 mins.

Ms Doody is Done!

Yay! Ms Doody is done for another year. A big thank you to the organisers and to everyone who came, especially those who bought pieces and prints.
A momentous effort from my partner Huong rendered my sometimes obtuse designs into 3D plushy goodness!
All my paintings and drawings can be seen on my deviant art account http://tommi-75.deviantart.com and photos of the plush artworks at http://ham-pie.deviantart.com/
Unframed prints are still available for sale (A3 prints of the paintings with an A4 print of the drawing included) just email me on tommi_art@yahoo.com or note me on deviant art. All prints are on 300gsm gloss stock.
Cheers, Tommi

Jive Bar Mural

I have been most remiss in posting for a while, but this is my contribution as part of a mural to refurbish the inside of the Jive Bar on Hindley St, Adelaide a little while ago.

The mural was a nightime cityscape with lots of windows in the building which we had free reign to fill however we wished. Some fantastic artists displayed their talents.

I went for the superhero girl getting ready to slink into the night in her superheroing costume, but who otherwise has a pretty ordinary room.

Acrylic and spraypaint on wall.

Alice in Wonderland

A mural in my little one's room.

It occupies the entire wall- about 3m x 2.4m. Acrylic.

This piece tries to reflect some of the mayhem and nonsense of the book as well as the strange undercurrents in each of the characters.

Other than that, it's fun!

Life Drawings MkII

A selection of drawings from the Eastwood life drawing group on Wednesday nights.
Some really dynamic poses that I thought gave some good results and were worth sharing.
Mostly pastel and conte, some in charcoal.

But wait there's more... colour!

Ice Festival version 2.0
My editor commented that the skin was indeed too orange! So here is another version with a more realistic palette and possibly it works better tonally too. As always with colour: less is more... more or less. Something like that anyway.

Feeding in the colour

Ice Festival
The last image in this series of sketches for my Children's Portfolio. I'm just beginning to feed in the colour with this one. I wanted the purple to harmonise with the blue that I did previously as the two images will probably be seen as a spread.
The yellow/orange was then chosen to vibrate off that- it's too saturated to be a realistic skin tone, but for the sake of a stylised illustration I'm hoping it works =).
Addit: I printed this out today and I'm a little bit chuffed to see it in hard copy- it semed to come out ok I think!

Post Version 2.0

Ice and Snow

Big Steps

On the Farm

Here are some new pics- two of which are actually old sketches but Scanned and Digitally Remastered (ie coloured in) for the twenty first century.

I am just working in monochrome or two colours at the moment to get a proper digital process going that works for me. Once I get more confident with how brushes behave, and what I can make them do, then I may move on to more full colour pieces.
